A dupla - Paula e Jonathan, ambos multi-instrumentistas - atualmente se divide entre São Paulo e Londres. Sunken é seu terceiro trabalho.

This project is a musical collective series of improvisation, founded by Douglas Dickel (input_output, Blanched), inspired by Joshua Homme’s Desert Sessions. Hotel began in 2006 at the Live Studio, in Porto Alegre, when Dickel brought together musicians from the local indie & post-rock scene. Songs are written & recorded “on the spot”, simultaneously, and in matters of four hours. Hotel is the introducing of people to each other. The gathered musicians try some spontaneous ideas or rhythms, or pick up stuff.
“Térreo” means Hotel’s ground floor, and joined, in 2006, Yury Hermuche (FireFriend, Frank Poole) on guitar, Renan Stiegemeier (Andina, Farveste) on bass, Marcelo Koch (Blanched) on drums, and Dickel on guitar, noisy toys and mixing.
“Segundo andar” means Hotel’s second floor, and joined, in 2007, Leonardo Brawl (Fruet & Os Cozinheiros, Subtropicais) on bass, Rodrigo Souto (Andina) on drums, and Mateus D’Almeida (Andina, Farveste) and Dickel on guitars and synthetizers.
Deslocado dos seus lugares habituais, diante de configurações inusitadas, o hóspede de Hotel fica mais atento, com uma percepção mais sensível das coisas ao seu redor. Hotel, pois, é um projeto musical de improviso com multiformações, fundado em 2006 por Douglas Dickel (input_output, Blanched), inspirado nas Desert Sessions de Josh Homme (QOTSA). Cada andar, ou seja, cada disco é habitado por músicos da cena indie e pós-rock brasileira que nunca tocaram juntos. Gravam-se quatro horas de reunião, e o resultado é editado e finalizado por Dickel.
“Térreo” reuniu, em 2006, Yury Hermuche (FireFriend, Frank Poole) na guitarra, Renan Stiegemeier (Andina, Farveste) no baixo, Marcelo Koch (Blanched) na bateria e Dickel na guitarra, rádio, papa-bolinhas e edição.
“Segundo andar” reuniu, em 2007, Leonardo Brawl (Fruet & Os Cozinheiros, Subtropicais) no baixo, Rodrigo Souto (Andina) na bateria, Mateus D’Almeida (Andina, Farveste) e Dickel nas guitarras e sintetizadores.

“Earth” is a versatile word: could be an area, one of the four elements, our planet, or simply the thing on which we step. All meanings, however, lead to the same point: something stable, a firm anchor to reality. Earth give us the security to know that, no matter how far we could go, we always have a place to go back to. The existence of earth, the certainty of the earth, is what allows us to, in certain moments, walk away from it. If there weren’t earth, there wouldn’t be a common sense to which we could refer to when disoriented, and the disorientation therefore would be a natural state. Earth allows us to daydream. We dare to make you an invitation: not to fly, but to step firmly in a strange land, an alien land. Not to take your feet from it, but to explore other earths.
“Terra” é uma palavra versátil: pode ser uma área, um dos quatro elementos, nosso planeta, ou simplesmente a coisa sobre a qual pisamos. Todos os significados, porém, levam a um mesmo ponto: algo estável, uma âncora firme na realidade. A terra nos dá a segurança de saber que, independente de quão longe possamos ir, sempre teremos um lugar para onde voltar. A existência da terra, a certeza da terra, é o que nos permite, em certos momentos, distanciar dela própria. Se não houvesse terra, não haveria um senso comum a qual pudéssemos recorrer quando desorientados e a desorientação, portanto, seria um estado natural. A terra nos permite devaneios. Faço-lhe, então, um convite ousado: não a voar, mas a pisar firmemente em solo estranho, alienígena. Não a tirar os pés da terra, mas a explorar outras terras.

“When the project started, I didn’t think it would be taken so seriously at first. As usual, I used the computer to record my songs, just to enjoy later at home. After a while these ideas were changing, from both guitar and voice to more complex structures. I think it was Godspeed You! Black Emperor the main reason that made me see music in a completely different way than before. I could create some aspects that reminded classical music and experimental rock music.
This is the third album with compositions written by me, and it was the most laborious, due to the increased diversity of the songs. I decided to divide it into two distinct themes, so it could be better to explore the expressiveness of the songs.”

Após um certo tempo essas idéias foram se alterando, indo do famoso duo violão/voz para estruturas mais complexas. Acho que foi Godspeed You! Black Emperor o principal motivo que me fez ver música de uma maneira completamente diferente do que via antes, poderia reunir alguns aspectos da música erudita à música experimental.
Este é o terceiro album que apresento de composições minhas, e foi o mais trabalhoso, devido à maior diversidade das musicas. Decidi dividí-lo em dois temas distintos, para assim melhor explorar a expressividade dos temas.”

KAOLL is contemporary instrumental music. It spawns from Bruno Moscatiello’s compositional work, yielded from a comprehensive experimental research and insightful introspections which surround the instrumental music universe, layered with moods, sensations and sonorous landscapes through elements found in both Brazilian and psychedelic music. There is a positive understanding that different Arts and Cultural manifestations are organically integrated to Kaoll, confirmed by great events joining Visual, Plastic and Scenic Arts as well as Literature and Poetry. The band is inspired and influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Brazilian guitar legend Lanny Gordin (former Moscatiello’s guitar teacher) who has been participating in the project since its CD debut-release KAOLL 04 at the Centro Cultural Popular Consolação, São Paulo. Besides the KAOLL 04 tracks, there are instrumental themes like “Groselha (O Sapato)” from Lanny’s solo album – 2001, Brazilian music - like bossa nova, jazz and blues standards, contemporary fusions. KAOLL is Bruno Moscatiello and Lanny Gordin - guitars, Dokter Leo - drums, Carlos Fharia - bass guitar and Miguel Durante – harmonicas, plus the supporting crew with Tiago Mineiro - keyboards, Janja Gomes - percussion and Yuri Garfunkel - flutes and woodwinds. The record KAOLL 04 has had great acceptance in Europe and is currently broadcasted in Greece by Tripolis 91.5 FM.
KAOLL & Lanny Gordin é Música Instrumental Contemporânea. Tem origem no trabalho autoral do músico Bruno Moscatiello, resultado de pesquisas experimentais e introspecções que abrangem um universo de música instrumental permeada por climas, ambiências e paisagens sonoras através de elementos da música brasileira e psicodélica. A banda é inspirada e influenciada por nomes como Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd e o lendário guitarrista tropicalista Lanny Gordin que participa do trabalho desde o lançamento do primeiro álbum KAOLL 04 em São Paulo - 2008. Além de faixas do disco KAOLL 04, ao vivo são apresentados temas como “Groselha (O Sapato)”, do disco solo de Lanny Gordin - 2001, standards de jazz e blues, música brasileira, fusões contemporâneas. KAOLL é formado por Bruno Moscatiello e Lanny Gordin (guitarras), Dokter Leo (bateria), Carlos Fharia (contrabaixo) e Miguel Durante (gaita) e ainda conta com banda de apoio formada por Tiago Mineiro (Teclado), Janja Gomes (Percussão) e Yuri Garfunkel (Flauta Transversal). O álbum é distribuído por Spanto Records e tem sido divulgado na Grécia - 91.5 FM Tripolis e outros países da Europa. KAOLL trabalha em parceria com Seizi Tagima Custom Shop Guitars e lojas Hendrix World Music (SP).
