PHANTASYSTEM Borderline EP Genre: IDM, Shoegaze 2009 - sinewave download (30MB)

Listening to this new EP by PhantaSystem is like following a thin line between distinct sounding landscapes, as well as various spirit states, in compositions that offer the discovery of new details at each listening. According to Jônatas Protes, PhantaSystem’s frontman, the tracks from this EP were born from the “attempt to produce a ’shoegazer’ sound into electronic music”. The result: A typically IDM music, supported by melodies expressed in uncommon aggressive pitches.

This release had the collaboration of the designer Pedro Oliveira (from I Buried Paul), that made the artwork on the EP.

Escutar este novo EP do PhantaSystem é como seguir uma tênue linha que divisa distintas paisagens sonoras, bem como diversos estados de espírito, em composições que oferecem a descoberta de novos detalhes a cada escuta. Segundo Jônatas Protes, o responsável pelo PhantaSystem, as faixas deste EP nasceram da “tentativa de produzir uma sonoridade ’shoegazer’ no âmbito da música eletrônica”. O resultado: Uma levada tipicamente IDM, apoiada em melodias que se expressam em timbres incomuns e agressivos.

A produção deste ‘release’ contou com a impagável colaboração do designer Pedro Oliveira (do projeto I Buried Paul), que assina a arte gráfica do EP.

COLOR TV Color TV Genre: IDM, Ambient 2009 - sinewave download (75MB)

Color TV’s self-titled debut album mixes ambient music and idm layers to downtempo, Detroit techno, dub, old school electro and even rap/dubstep - in a track that features the British grime artist Infecta -, while keeping it whole through looped glitches, AM radio samples and TV static.

The album is a semi-live homemade recording by André Z.P., a Brazilian musician who’s been toying with electronic music since the year 2000. Back then, he used to blend loose music fragments together with distorted samples and guitar feedback in a Pentium I personal computer. Over time, things have gotten better, and culminated on this release, which features 15 tracks and 5 computer wallpapers as packaging, designed by Rafael Nascimento.

André Z.P. is also the man behind the folk/electronica project Black Barn Music and the chiptune project Pulselooper.

I BURIED PAUL The 633 EP Genre: IDM, Ambient 2009 - Sinewave download (63MB)

633 is the first release of I Buried Paul, an alias for Pedro Oliveira, designer and musician. Developed and created as a graduation project, this EP explores the relationship between Electronic Music and Jazz Improvisation, focusing on the creation process of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. Jazz, IDM and Weird music all mixed together to create improvised sonic landscapes.

PHANTASYSTEM Live at Sesc/Araraquara Genre: IDM 2009 - sinewave download (85MB)

Conceived by Jônatas Protes in October 2007, PhantaSystem is a sonic articulation comprised from his most diverse musical influences. Through digital technology, the project utilises and explores unusual sounds and timbres. The resulting sound is a landscape which effortlessly converges various aspects of electronic and experimental music (Ambient, IDM, Shoegaze, Techno). This Live-Set was recorded at a Sesc unit in Araraquara on December 06 2008, with the participation of Cris Rissatto, who has collaborated with PhantaSystem since their first live performance.
