Herod Layne is a post-rock instrumental group from São Paulo, Brazil. Their style converge many influences in the likes of Pink Floyd's space-rock and Mogwai's post-rock, as well as Godspeed You! Black Emperor's anarchic sound, God Is An Astronaut's ambience and Sonic Youth's noise.

[edit] History
Herod Layne was formed in 2006 by Elson (bass, guitars) and Sachalf (guitars). In early 2007, the band took part in the David Gilmour's "Arnold Layne" worldwide online contest, and was ranked among the top ten best versions for Syd Barrett's 1967 song, according to public vote. This accomplishment was spotted in main Brazilian newspapers, and was very important for the band to reach new audiences. Later that year, Johnny (drums) joined the band, and soon after the initial rehearsals, they started playing their first concerts in local bars. In 2008 they released their first album, In Between Dust Conditions, preceded by the Walking The Valley single, both released by Sinewave label. By that time the band has also been featured in a UK art publication called Amelia's Magazine, also featuring the issue's pen drive compilation with the track "No Choice". In late 2008 the band was featured in the Sinewave's compilations Sinewave Essentials - The Best of '08 (with track "Walking The Valley") and Sinewave Essentials - The Rest of '08 (with track "Xmass").
In 2009 the band released a new single entitled Sealand Fire, whose title track was also featured in the Sinewave Essentials 2009 - Vol 1 compilation. The single was released due to their first international tour, in which they played several dates in Canada, following their attendance in the Canadian Music Week festival. They are currently preparing a movie about the tour to be released soon, as well as writing new material for a future release.
